The plastic is sturdy, as is the pump and tubing. I found no sharp edges. You will need a good amount of lube for it to seal, and you may have issues with the connection, and suction not working. If this happens, check where the tube attaches to the cup, because the latch may not be properly in place. I do not have experience with other items of this nature, so cannot speak as to how it stacks up against others.
