50% of Women Don't Know Where Their Vagina Is - What 50% Do You Lie In?
Get this. Only 35% of woman are able to correctly identify the different parts of their reproductive organs, with 50% not knowing where their vagina is!
This alarming figure has been revealed by leading gynecological charity - The Eve Appeal. They also revealed that woman are better at identifying the male anatomy than their own.
Two thirds of women were unable to identify the vulva and 48% unable to identify the cervix or vagina.
The Eve Appeal is now urging women to get to know their bodies better as it could be the key to saving their lives. It is estimated that in 2016, the mortality rate for gynecological cancer in Australia is set to measure at 11 deaths per 100,000 females.
Specialist gynecological nurse, Tracie Miles, believes that the lack of basic knowledge of the female body and how the female anatomy works is extremely worrying. She is concerned that if women aren't body aware, then they won't be able to look out for any unexpected changes in their vagina or vulva or be alerted to signs and symptoms of gynecological cancer.
It is a proven fact that an early diagnosis of women's cancer can save lives, therefore it's vital that girls are educated about their bodies from a young age!
It is estimated that gynecological cancer will remain the 3rd most commonly diagnosed cancer among females in Australia this year, which makes it extremely important that women start to understand their bodies and vaginal anatomy sooner rather than later.
