Betty Dodson was born in 1929. She passed away aged 91 this Halloween. She made the world a better place and will be greatly missed. Her legacy of body confidence, confidence in your sexuality, confidence in your desires – these will never leave us.

Betty changed the lives of so many women and femmes and thems. She taught us to live outrageously. To be proud. To seek pleasure and healing. She was a pioneer of the sex positive movement. Her “self-love workshops” weren’t just infamous, they were revolutionary. She taught hundreds of thousands of women, and people with vulvas, how to orgasm.

She didn’t just normalise and celebrate masturbation – she changed lives with "Betty Dodson's Genital Gallery" showed many films of masturbation and intercourse, with close-up views of genitals. She taught millions about what vulvas really look like, how beautiful and different each one is. Sex for One came out in 1987 yet it is still an incredible manual for women and people with vulvas of all ages. The Betty Dodson method introduced many to their first orgasms and opened up a whole new world for them. She’s the reason why we have wands on our website and the reason why they bring joy to so many.!
