According to sales data shared with the ODT, Otago leads the country in some very unexpected categories. Of all the sex swings purchased in New Zealand this past year, 42% were bought in Otago. The region is also the greatest purchaser of poles and neon lights.
The article also highlights that one in every 40 Jacks Point residents bought a sex toy over the past year — one of the highest per-capita rates in the country.
Newly elected Queenstown Mayor John Glover weighed in on the findings, telling the ODT that “There must be some interesting parties happening down in Jacks Point.”
However, there is some debate in the ODT from Owners Association chairman Mike Coburn on whether the new 561-hectare Hanleys Farm housing development skewed the data, with the two demographics being "quite different" Coburn states.
Mayor Mike Glover states that numbers reflect the region’s unique character: “I think it’s a reflection that we’re a population that’s diverse.”
