The lactation massager isn’t the first item that Kmart has sold that raised eyebrows among shoppers, and as the article states, people using household items as sex toys is a bit of a trend, quoting our recent Mega Kiwi Sex Survey, which found that 7% of Kiwis use household items like toothbrushes and pillows for getting off.
But that involves risk.
However, the expert told news.com.au that using tools not specifically designed for bedroom purposes can come with health risks. “Inserting food into your body is a sure-fire way to mess with your pH balance and get an infection,” she warned. And that warning applies to the wildly popular Kmart device, too. “The thing about sex toys is that they are made in suitable shapes, textures, and materials for your body,” she said. “They have safe motors, smooth edges and nothing that can mess with your bacterial or pH balance.”
