The heat it generates is quite a nice amount however due to the fact the entire stick doesn't warm up and it's mainly near the tip, it means the heat can be quite isolated to one area of the product you are inserting it into. It won't melt the material but you'll want to be close by to adjust it after some time so you get a consistent heat throughout rather than in one main spot.
