A huge trans-Tasman sex survey has revealed New Zealanders love to masturbate!
Record sales of adult toys in New Zealand took the world by surprise but it shouldn't have. A new trans-Tasman sex survey says New Zealanders masturbate a lot.
Adulttoymegastore commissioned a survey of New Zealanders and Australians and asked them a wide range of questions about sex, sexuality and masturbation. The results are in, thanks to UMR, and the truth is - both nations love a bit of rub and tug.
The survey found 6% of New Zealand men and 1% of New Zealand women masturbate one a day. One in five New Zealanders masturbate a few times a week (21%). They are more likely to be men (31% New Zealand men), than women (12% of women).
One in ten New Zealanders masturbate once a week (11%). And 15% of New Zealanders masturbate a few times a month.
The most frequent masturbators, clocking in at once a day at least are Gen Y men (at 13%). Almost half (43%) of the women from the silent generation surveyed have never masturbated. Around 23% of women from Gen Z have never masturbated - the second highest group.
Over half of New Zealand men masturbate at least a couple times a month (65%) compared with just 38% of women. And 24% of men masturbate once a month or less and 34% of women once a month or less often.
Almost half of New Zealanders surveyed have bought from an adult toy store. (43%). They are more likely to be women, but not by much. 41% of New Zealand men have made "adult" purchases.
New Zealand women are most likely to buy with 45% of those surveyed saying they have bought from an adult toy story. Gen Y are the most likely generation (50%: 41% men, 58% women), and Gen X (50%: 47% men, 53% women) to buy toys. Adult toy buying is less likely by boomers (32%) and the silent generation (21%).
Last year, Adulttoymegastore saw Kiwi women taking over with their love of clitoral stimulators.
It won't surprise anyone that the top toy for 2019 was the Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation. The Satisfyer Pro has taken the world by storm. It was crowned the country's favourite toy earlier in the year and its popularity has only grown (and grown and grown).
This year, Adultoymegastore had to set up stand-alone pre-order pages to keep up with demand. Two Satisfyer Pro parties in Wellington sold out in hours. "It's a phenomenon that's for sure," Head of Customer Satisfaction Sophie McGrath says.
"In just one day we sold 3500 units and it's all word of mouth. Women just love it because it's so effective."
Adulttoymegastore owner and operator Nicola Relph agrees, saying the Satisfyer Pro 2.0 has revolutionised the sex toy industry.
"Satisfied customers are telling everyone they know and it's our fastest selling toy in history."
The success of the Satisfyer brand isn't surprising Nicola says.
"They're really affordable toys and they're of a high quality. That alone makes them popular - but the new airwave technology they're rolling out has made them wildly popular."
Adulttoymegastore's own brand Amore by ATMS also secured spots on the top 10.

Lubricants and toy cleaners were in the top five but for toys alone, the Satisfyer brand is unstoppable and it's all about the clitoris!
