Rocketing towards the Minister of Economic Development, Steven Joyce (at the time). The dildo struck balls first, careering off his shoulder, spinning 180 degrees, the shaft scraping his cheek and the uncircumcised head touching his nose. Falling from grace, the dildo flipped onto the arms of an unsuspecting journalist, finally landing peacefully onto the overcast sodden tarmac.
I could sit here all day and practice dildo centric poetry but that's not the point of this article. No matter what you think of Joyce's career, the man has retired now and perhaps we should put the dildo puns to rest as well. He's received enough stick don't you think?
Josie Butler, the woman who threw the dildo says she will attend Waitangi commemorations, undeterred from being trespassed by police.
Butler posted a Facebook video saying that she had been invited to speak this year, discussing protest benefits.
She also wanted to attend after finding out her great, great, great grandfather was a signatory of the treaty and was the first person to speak on Waitangi.
Although her movement inevitably has political weight. Her Facebook post suggests she simply wants to attend Waitangi, free of controversy. Saying that no piece of paper will stop her from having that right.
"I will be attending Waitangi this year, I will be exploring my ancestral land and I won't be causing a fuss. I just want to go and see my marae, I just want to go and feel the wairau of the land."
