Nearly half of New Zealanders have had sex on the beach, one in two have had a one night stand, and going on holiday equals more sex than usual for almost half of New Zealanders, according to the Adulttoymegastore Kiwi Sex Survey results.
The Adulttoymegastore Kiwi Sex Survey, which was conducted by New Zealand adult toy and lingerie retailer Adulttoymegastore and hosted by Colmar Brunton, surveyed more than 1,000 New Zealanders aged 18 years and older about their sexual experiences, which revealed when and where New Zealanders are likely to have sex.
According to the sex survey results, which are representative of the New Zealand population, sex on the beach isn't just a popular cocktail - it's also a popular place for New Zealanders to have sex.
Almost half of the New Zealand population aged 18 and older have had sex on the beach (45%). The most popular region for sex on the beach was Whangarei/Northland, where one in two survey respondents (56%) said they had done it.
The Adulttoymegastore Kiwi Sex Survey results also revealed that there may be a good reason behind why Kiwis love camping so much, as one in two Kiwis (50%) have had sex in a tent. Hamilton is the leading city for happy campers, as 62% of Hamilton-based survey respondents said they have had sex in a tent.
When it comes to sleeping with strangers, one in two Kiwis (51%) have had a one night stand. Hamilton was once again the leading city, with 58% of Hamilton-based survey respondents stating they've had a one night stand.
New Zealanders taking road trips throughout summer are likely to pull over for sex. Nearly two thirds of New Zealanders (63%) have had sex in a car. Respondents from Palmerston North were more likely than the rest of the country to partake in car sex, with three quarters of survey respondents from Palmerston North (74%) stating they've had sex in a car at least once.
The survey results have also revealed the exclusivity of the mile high club in New Zealand, with only 4% of Kiwis claiming their membership. The survey respondents who have had sex on a plane were more likely to be from the Hawkes Bay, Napier or Hastings, with 8% of respondents from these regions stating they've had sex on a plane.
Summer is a prime time for festivals, and the survey results stated that one in 10 New Zealanders (12%) have had sex at one. Hamilton is the leading city, where one in five survey respondents from the region (20%) said they have had sex at a festival.
Almost half of New Zealanders have had sex in a public place (44%), and 15% of Kiwis have had sex in a public bathroom. Palmerston North is the leading city for public bathroom sex, where one in five respondents said they had done it (21%).
Taking a holiday appears to increase New Zealand's hunger for sex, as almost half of New Zealanders have more sex than usual whilst on holiday, and a quarter of New Zealanders believe they have more sex in summer than the rest of the year.
The weekend also means more sex for 46% of New Zealanders, who believe they are more likely to have sex during the weekend than on a work day.
